Abstract

Milling method is widely used in the field of machining steel alloy parts. There are many factors that significantly affect the surface quality of milled parts, such as cutting depth, feed rate, number of cutting pieces... In this study, SC50 steel samples are milled on Xmill M460 CNC machine, the results of surface smoothness Ra and cutting force will be recorded. Using Taguchi method combined with gray relations (T-GRA) to analyze data to evaluate the influence of input parameters. Variance analysis is also mentioned to analyze the importance of input parameters to output results. The multi-objective optimization results were obtained from the maximum signal-to-noise ratio (S/N) of the gray relation level, determining the optimal combination with a cutting depth of 1mm, a feed rate of 0.05mm/rev, a cutting speed of 310 m/min and a number of cutting pieces of 1. Through analysis, it was found that the feed rate had the greatest influence on the overall considered objective results of the output.
