METHODS TO CREATE NANO CHITIN FROM CHITIN

Abstract

Chitin is a naturally occurring polymer, non-toxic, and has good biocompatibility. However, it needs to have characteristics consistent with technological requirements. Many authors have published results regarding this matter. It is possible to create nano chitin with nanometer size from chitin, which has many advantages and higher applicability than chitin. Therefore, the method of creating nano chitin interests many researchers. This article briefly introduces methods to create nano chitin from chitin. Group of physical and mechanical methods: ultrasound, pressure changes using homogenization equipment, grinding. The chemical methods include hydrolysis, DES (Deep Eutectic Solvent) solution, intermediate oxidation, partial deacetylation of chitin, and APS (ammonium Persulfate) method.
