SITUATION AND SOLUTIONS ORIENTATION TO DEVELOP DRY PORT, ICD SYSTEM IN THE NORTH OF VIETNAM

Abstract

Logistics is a new and growing field that plays a large role in the economic development of the country. Dry port and ICD – Inland Container Depot play a part in supporting companies in fulfill export and import activities faster. In addition, Dry port and ICD are also considered as an important link in multimodal transport, contributing to reducing shipping costs and inventory time at ocean port. However, the actual development of ICD systems between North region and South region exists a big gap. While ICD system in South area can fully exploit their strengths, this system in the North operates very slowly, not fully promoting the benefits of an ICD system. Therefore, a specific solution is needed to develop service at the Dryport and ICD system in the Northern region, fully promote the service systems of a port, and avoid wasting resources in this area.
