RESEARCH ON WASTEWATER TREATMENT FROM NOODLE PRODUCTION USING GEL BIOLOGICAL MATERIAL

Abstract

To evaluate the ability to treat vermicelli production wastewater with gel-bead biological media, a batch biological reactor was studied at a laboratory scale. Specifically, the study investigated the effects of gel bead volume used in the tank and hydraulic retention time (HRT) on wastewater treatment efficiency from vermicelli production process. The input wastewater had BOD5, COD, NH4+ - N values ​​of 2450 - 2620 mg/L, 1728 - 1916 mg/L, 35.8 - 40.2 mg/L, respectively. The results showed that the gel-bead carrier ratio of 30% and the water retention time of 48 hours were suitable for treating vermicelli production wastewater using gel-bead biological carriers. Although the pollution values ​​in the wastewater did not meet the requirements according to the Standard, the technology brought great potential in treating vermicelli production wastewater
