Abstract

This study investigates the use of metal oxide photocatalyst (TiO₂) to remove chlorpyrifos pesticide residues (CHP). The characteristics of TiO₂ are determined using SEM, EDS spectral analysis, and UV-Vis methods. The UV-vis spectra confirmed the good activity of TiO₂ under UV light, with the band gap energy found to be 3.1 eV. As the catalyst dosage increased from 0.01 g to 0.1 g, the degradation efficiency rose from 38.2% to 60.3%. However, when the pollutant concentration increased from 1 mg/L to 10 mg/L, the degradation performance of CHP dropped from 60.3% to 42.7%. The main radicals contribute to degradation of CHP was determined, along with the advantages and disadvantages of using TiO₂ for pesticide residue removal.
