Abstract

In this study, cellulose isolated from kapok fiber were the material of interest and it was tested for the degree of hydration, hydration, water absorption time, material mass, optimal ratio of material/water, and its bioregenerative properties. The results showed the material is great at absorbing water contaminated with diesel, Ron 95 and Ron 92. The water absorption property in petrol/diesel oil reached the optimal capacity at 98-99% in 24 hours. Furthermore, the end-product hydrogel has high bio-regenerative properties and it is effective in absorbing water in diesel oil, Ron 95 and Ron 92.
