DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION IN VIETNAM’S LOGISTICS SERVICE INDUSTRY

Abstract

The logistics service sector plays an essential role and regared as a key service industry with high added value, as a foundation for trade development, contributing to improving the economy’s competitiveness. Digital transformation is becoming an objective and urgent requirement for Vietnam's logistics industry, especially in the context of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, causing the disruption and reversal of supply chain, including logistics activities considered the "backbone" of the supply chain. In that context, logistics service providers need to digitally transform to create a breakthrough to improve their competitiveness, reduce logistics costs, gain more customers and achieve outstanding profits more than before. The paper assesses the current situation, difficulties and challenges in digital transformation in Vietnam's logistics service industry and proposes some solutions to accelerate this process in the coming time.
